BULLS TOWN BOARD. The Bulls Town Board met on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs J. E. Walker (chairman), F. A. Holland, G. D. Flower, C. C. Price, J. F. Flynn, and W. Innes. An apology was received from Mr. M. C. Gould. Foreman S. Howard reported on work done for the month ending September 17 as follows:—Main roads have been graded seven times with the county grader. The footpath has been metalled in Bridge Street up to Rev. White’s gate. The road in Lower Hammond Street has been metalled. Big stones have been taken off Cemetery Road, and about ten chains metalled. Stones have boon raked off road in High Street and Bridge Street, and 1 ‘chips’ 1 put on. Footpaths at cemetery have been cut. and sexton’s duties carried out. eßlief workers have been engaged cutting gorse and blackberry; also fencing, digging tre holes and cutting wood on Domain. Metal has been screened; gutters cleaned out in Flower and Gordon Streets, and Cemetery Road; a footpath has been formed in Flower Street.

Correspondence.—Mr A. J. Kellow, Feilding manager for Messrs Levin and Co., acknowledged receipt- of cheque for £2B 17s 6d, being refund on an auctioneer’s license issued to their representative in Bulls, and not required, being cancelled. Mr Kellow expressed his firitt’s thanks, an*- 1 stated that Messrs Levin and Co. would do their best to see that Bulls Town Board is allotted one of the licenses when the new company will be renewing same next month.—Air Kellow’s remarks were appreciated. From Mr R. M. Mclntosh, builder, applying for permission to erect an implement shed in Upper High Street.—Granted.

Finance.—Collections for the month: Rents £22 19s; rates, £34 8s 9d; heavy traffic licenses /% ! 5 9s 8d: library £4 3s 6d; Domain, £1 13s. Total, £l4B 14s lid. Accounts passed for payment: District Fund, £l3l 13s 6d; library £3 5s 4d; Domain £1 Is.

General.—lt was resolved to attend to footpaths in Hammond Street, and in Daniel Street continuation. It was reported that wood cut on the Domain had been sold. It was reported also that the improvements effected by Mr S. Goebel to the Town Hall supperroom had proved most satisfactory, and parties using the rooms had commented favourably on them. Works Committee for the ensuing month. —Messrs Flower, Flynn and Gould.

DOMAIN BOARD. The same members then sat as a Domain Board. It was reported that the young trees had been fenced off, and that the wire fences around the sports ground were being attended to. Mr P. Robinson, secretary of the Orion Motor Club, wrote asking for perihission to hold a Sunday picnic and sports on the Domain.—The request was not entertained, members stating that owing to protests by residents at the noise made by motor-cycles with open exhausts Sunday sports could not be allowed, though no opposition would be placed in the way of a picnic or sports gathering on the Domain during week-days. Cricket.—Mr. F. A. Holland, president of the Bulls Cricket Club, asked for permission to play cricket on the sports ground during the coming summer. The ground was also used by th-. Rangitikei Factory Cricket Club, and it was considered necessary this season to put 4 0Wn & proper playing pitch, the soil at present being loose and sandy. He added that the cricketers had improved the oval by mowing and rolling. Members of the board readily granted permission for the use of the ground, and for necessary improvements to bo effected by the cricket club. Members then grew reminiscent, Air Holland stating that the former cricket pitch on the sports ground had been dug up and planted with potatoes during the war, the crop being a fine one, and being sold for funds then required. The chairman also remembered “the potato patch,” and said that the chairman of that time, Air. Harry MeAf ana way, had taken off his coat with the rest, and had done his share of the digging. He agreed that these “budding Bradmen” should 3e encouraged, and said that quite a number of townspeople enjoyed the cricket matches played on the ground. DANCE AT GREATFORD Wet, stormy weather did not prevent a good crowd from attending the Greatford Cricket Club’s dance held in Mr T. Whale’s hall on Wednesday night, and the club’s funds will benefit by the function. Bright music was supplied by Air D. Wishnowsky, and extras by Miss Boober and Miss Al. Whale. Air Geo. Castle made an efficient M.C. The dance was a very enjoyable one, and reflected credit on all responsible for its running. MAORI CHOIR CONCERT. A good house greeted the Afethodist Afaori Choir in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, and the programme was a very fine one, earning the plaudits of the audience. Opening with a welcome ceremony according to Maori custom, the reply speech was made by Chief Te Hiringa, Sister Nicholls interpreting. Then following: Kupe’s Waiata, chanted; solo, “Afemories,” Henare Paikea Toka, North Auckland; First Christian Hymn, intoned by choir; Poi Waka, a typical representation of the coming of ancestors from Hawaiki; Poi dances, two and single; Taiha drill, by Te Hiringa; solo, “To Ako Ako o te Rangi, ” by Ripeka, and including “E Pari Ra,” with actions; solo, “A Polynesian Lament,” steel guitar, by Te Akonga; quartette, “I’m a-roll-ing,” by ladies’ party; ancient Poi, to the rythym of ancient chant; Waiata Poi, sung by Wana-irungi and Raiha Pihama as the Poi dancer; medley of choruses and chanting, the Tiki, with dancing; duct, “Sweet Genevive,” sung by Raiha and Pipeka; a Alaori’s at Home (with instruments), favourite choruses, the Tititorea Game, Alate Mate; a long-stringed Poi (bv girlsl and demonstration by Rangipeka, and . • T” I ~ The fortni'jhllv meeting of RangiT l .ei Lodge No. 14 T.O () F, was he’d on Thursday evening, N G Bro.
