FROZEN MEAT TRADE
JULY SHIPMENTS TO BRITAIN The Meat Board has received from its London office a calbe message stating that the shipments of South American mutton to Britain during July totalled 160,091 carcases, not 390,091 as previously reported. The shipments to Britain during July were as follow: — Australia.—Carcases, mutton, 147,404; carcases lamb, 119,525; quarters beef, 104,627. South America.—Carcases mutton, 160,091; carcases lamb, 183,641; quarters beef (frozen), 2444; quarters beef (chilled), 513,425. Included in the South American figures are 42.838 carcases of lamb and 86,388 carcases of mutton shipped from Patagonia. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follow:—Carcases mutton, 230,717; careases lamb, 602,406; quarters beef, 7075. The shipments from South America to the Continent of Europe during the same period were as follows: Mutton 407 tons; frozen beef, 3387 tons.
