SERIOUS DAMAGE RESULTS HEAVY FLOODS IN NORTH By Tdegraph—Press Association—Copvriffht.; Received Aug. 19, 10.50 p.w. LONDON, Aug. 19. Heavy gales around tho English coasts did great damage yesterday. Beach equipment was wrecked in a large number of seaside resorts. The Sussex coast was wept by heavy seas, and at Winchelsca beach buildings were flooded and wrecked. A lowlying area was threatened with extensive inundation, but the wind and seas abated before high tide early this morning.

Great damage was done to a promenade in the course of construction at Fleetwood. At Bannough, where new defences were partially completed, the damage is estimated at £3OOO.

Heavy rain fell again yesterday in many parts of the country, causing floods and landslides in North England and in Scotland and Wales. There are many acres floc '.cd.
