LODGE MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Bulls Lodge, M.U. 1.0.0. F., was held on Monday, August 17, N.G. Sister Stevens presiding over a very good attendance of members. Correspondence was received as follows: —From Loyal Manchester Lodge, Feilding, extending an invitation to members to be present at the installation of officers, to be held on September 2.—From Rangitikei Lodge, No. 14, 1.0.0. F., challenging members to a game of cards, to be played on Thursday, August 20, and advising that it is intended to hold a social after the challenge game, and inviting members of Rosneath Rebekah Lodge te. the social.—lt was resolved to notify Rangitikei Lodge that 15 members would play cards on the 20th inst.— The secretary was instructed to advise the Lodge in Wanganui that. a. team of card players will be coming through on September 7 to play for the Salek Cup. Officers.—Tho first nominations for officers resulted as follows:—N.G., Bro. Whitley; V.G., Bro. Lumsden; Elective Secretary, Sister J. Forbes and Sister Fowler Perm. Secretary: There being no nominations for the position, PG. Bro. Forbes consented to carry on until the end of November, or until somebody could be found to take over the office. THE MANAWATU SEAT. So far there are three candidates in the field for the Manawatu seat in the House of Representatives: Mr J. Linklater (Reform), the present M.P.; Mr W. Hunter (Labour); and Mr P. J. Small (United). Mr Small was in Bulls on Monday, and met a number of his supporters, who report that the prospects of the United Party are very good in this electorate. GENERAL ITEMS. Bulls Ping Pong Club sent a team to Stan way on Tuesday evening, and spent a very enjoyable time, though Pulls were defeated bv 6.1 games to 39. The Bulls Croquet Club’s progressive euchre party was well attended on Tuesday afternoon, and the prize was won by Miss Marjorie Curtis, a visitor from Dannevirke, who defeated Mrs C Flower in the play-off. The Bulls Busy Bees will give ar, entertainment this evening in aid of the. Mission Fund. A good programme has been arranged, and a good attendance is expected. The L.G.U, Medal round will be played on the Rangitikei golf links this afternoon, and to-morrow (Friday) a match will he played here between ladies of Marton and Rangitikei chibs. Preparations are well in hand for the Bulls Bowling Club hall, which will be held on Tuesday. August 25 and the committee will meet this evening to finalise arrangements.
