FARMYARD MANURE FIXATION OF NITROGEN. The Imperial Institute of Agrb-aL tural Research at Pusa (India) is making continued progress In nitrogen fixation. Two sets >f experiments to estimate nitrogen fixation by green ai-me have been completed, and others t>r.“in progress. It is stated that some grains of nitrogen were again detected. Two scries of rotation experiments have also been started to test the influence of leguminous crops on the conservation of sou nitrogen. As regards the conservation of nitrogen in dung, the addition of .1 or 2 nor eent. of superphosphate to cow or bullock dung diminished greatly the loss of nitrogen during ten months' «tornge and at the ond jf the period there waa much higher percentage of nitrogerecoverable as ammonia from the dun and superphosphate mixture than from tho dung alone. The richer dung lost more nitrogen than the poorer, and in it the value of superphosphate as ?. eouserver of nitrogen was much the higher.
