ADDINGTON FIXTURE 1 METROPOLITAN MEETING HAROLD THORPE’S VICTORY i Per Presa Association. J CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 14. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club August meeting was concluded to-day. The weather was fine and the course in great order. The attendance was good. The totalisator investments w'ere £31,049, compared with. £40,599 last year. The total for the meeting was £76,916, as against £.101,178 10s last year Results were as follows: Midwinter Handicap.—6 Gemlight (Humphreys) 1, 4 Repute (Frost) 2, 9 Merce Bingen (Berry) 3. Also: 1 Great Way and Ambition (bracketed), 2 Lady Fan, 5 Nelson Ata, 7 All Peters, 10 Nelson Boy, 3 White Satin, 8 Boueta. Repute led into the straight from Ambition, Gemlight and Merce Bingen but Gemlight finished well and won by two lengths from Repute. Merce Bingen was three lengths away, and Ambition, fourth. Times, 3.24, 3.27 4-5, 3.29. Lightning Handicap.—2 Meteor (Holmes) 1, 5 Wild Voyage (Al. B. Edwards) 2, 4 Sunchild (Fraser) 3. The leaders into the straight were Sunchild, Meteor, Erin’s Fortune, Steel AH, Wild Voyage and John Jinks. In the run home Meteor won by two lengths from Wild Voyage, with Sunchild half a length away. Steel All was fourth. Times 2.12, 2.12 2-5, 2.12 3-5. National Handicap.—9 Harold Thorpe (Al. B. Edwards) 1, 3 Roi I’Or (Al. Holmes) 2, 6 Harold Logan (Humphreys) 3, 10 Lindbergh (Donald) 4. Six- furlongs from home Dilworth had charge from Harold Thorpe, with Regal Voyage, Satin King, Kingcraft, Alountain Deii and Roi I’Or next. Regal Voyage took the lead three furlongs from home and led into the straight from Dilworth, Harold Thorpe, Roi I’Or, Kingcraft and Satin King. Harold Thorpe finished well and won by a length and a-half from Roi I’Or. Harold Logan was two lengths away and Lindbergh. three lengths back, fourth, with Regal Vovage fifth. Milo Minto led into the straight from Harvest Child, Eugene de Oro, Sunny Bob, Warplane and Acre, with Great Ballin coming fast on the rails. In a good finish Afilo Afinto beat Great Ballin by half a length. Ungene de Oro 1 was a length and a-half away, with Sunny Bob fourth. Times 2.46 2-5, 2.46 3-5, 2.47 4-5. Heathcote Handicap.—l Belinda (Alc- ’ Kendry) 1, 3 Steel All (Withers) 2, 5 ’ Sundale (McLennan) 3. With a round to go ’ Belinda was in charge from Dillon Logan, Sodium, Tarndale, Sunchild, Peter Pirate and St. George. Belinda : wns not troubled to win by two lengths from Steel All, with Tarndale a nock away. St. George was fourth. Times ’ 4.27 1-5, 4.27 2-5, 4.28 3-5. Addington Handicap.—2 Sir Voyage (Tomkinson) 1, 5 Native Star (Thomas) 2, 8 Engagement (Townley) 3. Also: 7 Rose Audo, 6 Fifa, 4 Duke Bingen, 3 Quickfire, 1 Stanley T., 9 John Alauritius. Sir Voyage entered the run home well clear of Duke Bingen and Native Star and won by six lengths from Native Star, with Engagement a similar distance away. Quickfire was fourth. Times 4.36 2-5, 4.32 3-5, 4.36 4-5. Islington Handicap.— 6 Ayrmont Chimes (J. Bryce, junr.) 1, 9 Lifebuoy (Davidson) 2,2 Netta Oro (F. G. Holmes) 3. Somerby led into the straight from Ayrmont Chimes, Impromptu and Lifebuoy. Ayrmont Chimes finished well and won by three lengths from Lifebuoy, with Netta Oro a head away and Somerby foil h.
