MARTON
AN INTERESTING ADDRESS LEAGUE OF NATIONS A splendid address on the League of Nations was delivered by Dr Gibb, the Dominion president of the League of Nations Union, on “The League of Nations” at the Alarton District Hißh School on Wednesday night. Despite the inclement, weather attendance was excellent. His Worship the Mayor (Mr F. Burnell) presided and introduced the speaker, who was accorded a hearty welcome. Dr Gibb was present under the auspices of the W.D.F.U. At tho. conclusion of an hour and a half address, which will long be remembered by those who had tho privilege of hearing it, it was resolved, oa the motion of the Rev. Afclvor, seconded by the Rev. Alitchell, that a branch of the League of Nations Union be formed in Alarton, tho meeting to b® convened by his Worship the Mayor. An amendment by the Rev. Ashcroft that the election of officers and the collection of subscriptions be taken forthwith was lost. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Dr Gibb by the chairman. During his stay in Marton Dr Gibb was the guest of Rev. Mclvor. (Continued on Page 11). ,
