THE BULLS BRIDGE
STATE OF DECKING The state of the decking of the Bulls Bridge, has of late been concerning the Manawatu County Council, and at last month’s meeting a letter was sent to the Rangitikei County Council, the controlling authority over the bridge, ask ing it to put the matter of repairs in hand. A letter was received from the Rangitikei Council on Tuesday, stating that the repairs would be attended to as far as possible, but the Manawatu councillors did not consider this very definite. Cr. Pearce said he had noticed in a report of the Rangitikei County Council meeting that the recent wet weathei had prevented repairs being finalised on the bridge. Other speakers pointed out that the bridge decking was in a really dangerous state and much worse than when the council had first sent the letter to the Rangitikei body. Cr. Perrctt said the state of the decking of the bridge was a discredit and perhaps the Manawatu County Council was in a measure responsible notwithstanding the fact that it had frequently made representations to the Rangitikei Council for repairs to be carried out. The condition of the decking at present made it imperative that repairs be put in hand at once. It was decided to make a request, on these lines to the Rangitikei County Council.
