ITS QUALITY PRAISED LONDON. July 2. In the course of a speech at the banquet to the New Zealand Commissioner (Sir Thomas Wilford), by the I,ord "Mayor of Bristol, Sir Thomas Allen (chairman of the New Zealand Produce Association), paid some excel lent tributes to New Zealand butter. He said ho was interested in Now Zealand produce, more particularly in the handling of it. He referred to the great increase in the use of butter in England in recent years, and said he had wondered what would have boon the price if there had been dependence solely upon continental supplies’ Of al! the Dominions and Colonies which had equipped themselves for Britain’s services none had boon more helpful than Now Zealand, and with helpfulness, ofiieieuev had gone hand in hand. Buving from New Zealand was also keeping the money in the family, and the spirit of New Zealand towards Britain could not adequately be described. (Applause). The best forward policv New Zealand could exercise was to keen Up the excellent standard of its produce. (Applause). Mr C. E. Davis (president of the British Provision Trade Association'! said ho would like to associate himself with the remarks of Sir Thomas Allen. The provision trade held a very high opinion of the produce from Now ZealanT. Mr W. F. Scad, handles large quantities of Now Zealand mutton and 1 lamb, spoke enthusiastically of its qualitv and said ho would be sending considerably more to Bristol this year. TTo further said that be intended to distribute to the Midlands from Bristol instead of from London (Applause'!.
