Just before noon a sergeant warned a man who seemed to be in charge of the party that the dance would not bo permitted, but as soon as the hands of the clock pointed to the hour the dancers commenced operations. They had only danced a lew yards, however, when the police intervened. Promptly arresting four men and four women, they escorted them to the police station, where the men were charged with offensive behaviour. Air. Fletcher, S.M., fined each of the del endants 10s, or a day in gaol. The women were dealt with as first offenders. As .soon as the crowd rushed forward to follow the dancers, two motorists, in their endeavour to keep clear of trouble at one of North Sydney’s busiest corners, came into collision.
