Mr W. J. McCulloch, fields superintendent of the Agricultural Department in the Wellington district, visited New Plymouth on Tuesday, and arrived in Wanganui yesterday.

Guests registered at Foster’s Hotel last night were as follow 7: Messrs Nordinick, E. Allan (Wellington), R. D. Rogers (Auck’and), M. Greenwood (Hastings), B. Shcil (Melbourne), and Mr and Mrs G. Dark (Palmerston North).

Reference to the passing of the late Mr C. H. Warden, of Wanganui, and formerly of Palmerston North, was made by the chairman of f’o Central School Committee (tho Rev. J. D. McArthur) at Tuesday night’s meeting of that body. “The leceased gentleman was, several years ago, first assistant at the old Campbell Street (Central) Schoo], of Palmerston North,” stated Mr McArthur, “and he was‘well known ar deeply respected by the many expupils of this school who were connected w’ith h’.m during the 20 years he spent in tho city.” The members then stood in silence as a mark of aspect to the deceased gentleman.

Th 9 late Mr George Childs, of Palmerston North, who passed aw’ay this week, was wed known in hockey circles n the city and in his younger days enjoyed a great record in various branches of sport, having been a track cyclist, runner, and league footballer in his native city of Dunedin. He acted as coach to the Central School Old Boys’ Hockey Club, being also a vicepresident of the club. It was in his capacity of coach that he accompanied the team to Foilding on Saturday where he was overtaken with a seizun which had fatal results. Fifty-two years of age, deceased leaves a' widow and a family of two daughters and one son —Mrs Anderson, of Leith Street, Dunedin, Mrs Cunningham, of Cuba.
