PETROL PRICES

POSITION IN WELLINGTON [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Aug. 11. No reduction in the retail price of petrol is being made, according to a statement issued by tho petrol section of the Wellington Motor Trade Association. Explaining why the rebate of Id a gallon by the wholesalers has not been passed on to tho public, the association says that in November last the retailors reduced tho price by Id without receiving a commensurate reduction from the main oil corporations. Many stations found it. difficult to carry on at this price with the altered trading system recently introduced by the com panics, whereby credit terms wore reduced to a half-monthly basis. Therefore retailers find it impossible to pass on the recent reduction made in the wholesale price. Some service stations, Tiowevcr, are advertising tho reduction.
