BOWLING
BRISBANE CARNIVAL NEW ZEALAND TEAM’S VISIT DEPARTURE TO-MORROW majority of the members of the New Zealand bowling team to compete at the carnival at Brisbane on August 24 leave Auckland for Australia by the Niagara to-morrow. It is expected that subsequent to the carnival a tour will be arranged for the team by the NewSouth Wales and Queensland Bowling Associations. Mr J. W. Hardley, of Auckland, who wa s manager of the New Zealand team which toured Great Britain, Ireland, Canada and United States in 1928 will again be the manager. He will be accompanied by Mrs Hardley. Mr J, Pascoe, of Auckland, will be president. The following have been chosen to make the trip:—Messrs F. Binns, H. J. Bray, W. Bremner, H. Collins, V. Casey, F. H. Davenport, H. W. Frost, J. T. Gill, E. J. Goldsmith, C. E. Hardley, J. W. Hardley, J. J. Hipkins, H. S. Hill, M. Hunt, F. Kummer, A. Moore, G. A. McKendrick, A. J. Parker, J. Pascoe, H. A. Robertson, C. G. Sandin, and W. Thomas, of Auckland; Messrs A. AL Chivers, J. S. Piper, G. Ramsay, and J. Wyber, of Christchurch; Messrs W. Chegwidden, C. W. Weller, and D. H. Whiting, of Wellington; and Mr Al. J. Suhan, of Levin. Messrs H. Collins, C. E. Hardley, W. Thomass, A. J. Parker, J. J. Hipkins, F. Binns, H. S. Hill, and V. Casey are already in Australia, and will join the team at Sydney.
A number of members of the team will be accompanied by their wives. It is anticipated that they will be in Australia for six weeks, and return to New Zealand by the Aorangi on September 17.
It is expected there will be 1000 competitors from all parts of Australia and New Zealand. The championship singles, the rinks championship, the intcr-State championship, and a match Australia v. New Zealand will be played.
