GENERAL NEWS To-day is sale day in Bulls and fair entries ot cattle, sheep and pigs have been received for the fortnightly stock sale. Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday morning the qualifying round for the men’s championship of the Rangitikei Golf Club had to be postponed. There was no football here on Saturday, and local members o J the Rangitikei representative team were notified that the match with Taihape was post poned owing to the roads being impassable. There wag a good attendance at the Parewanui school euchre party on Friday evening, and the prize-winners were Mrs W. Klatt and Master Apirana. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs Mac. Homes and Mr G. Crosland. Mr T. Teko entertained the party with a haka, and after supper dancing was kept up till a late hour. A movement is on foot here to prevail upon Mr P. J. Small to stand for this electorate in the interests of the United Party at the coming elections. A meeting will be held at an early date to form a committee, and he organisers report that Mr Small’s candidature is likely to be well supported in this district. Ladies will have much to interest them in Bulls to-day. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union will meet at 1.30 p.m. and will be addressed by the president, Mrs Goodall, on the work done at the recent conference. Tin Women’s Institute will meet at 2 p.m., the ladies of the committee acting as hostesses and Mrs Marumaru giving a demonstration of cane and raffia work. In connection with the Institute’s meetings it is desired to mention that all ladies and girls above the age of sixteen years are invited to attend. Improvements are being effected to the Town Hall supper room, tho walls of the main room and kitchen and ante rooms being match-lined, and the kitchen provided, with an additional sink and galvanised iron benches. The room will be more cosy and convenient, and the improvements will be appreciated by those using the building for parties. ‘it is many years since so many rainy days were recorded here in the month of July, and in many parts of the districts the paddocks are at present flooded, and stock are having a hard time.
