"JUST IMAGINE"

MAJESTIC FUTURIST ROMANCE . COMING ATTRACTIONS There is something new under the sun. It will be offered to public view to-day when the premiere of the new De Sylva, Brown and Henderson Fox Movietone musical comedy, “Just Imagine,” is held at the Majestic Theatre. “Just Imagine” is laid in a 1980 setting, when the world has changed materially in virtually every element except romance. The story of tho love of the “Lindbergh of 1980” in the person of John Garrick for Maureen O’Sullivan is besot with tho traditional difficulties of romance of all time, but, of course, this n musical comedy, true love conquers in the end. El Brendel, the hilariously funny Swedish comedian, has the principal role and moves in and out of tho story at frequent intervals, providing a generous portion of comedy, his second great success this season, having scored in Raoul Walsh’s epic, “The Big Trail.” He is ably assisted by the vivacious Marjorie White and Frank Albertson, the latter essaying his first light comedy role with marked success. Ssong hits include “I’m Only the Words, You Are the Melody,” “Ohl Fashioned Girl” and “Never Swat u Fly” being particularly outstanding. The two instrumental numbers which supply the accompaniment for the big

dance numbers, are particularly excellent, and also will prove popular with the fox-trot fans. “New Moon” Coming Lawrence Tibbett and Grace Moore, co-starred in “New Moon,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s filmisation of the stage hit, bring drama with a new flavour to the Majestic Theatre, where the production will be shown, starting on Wednesday. “New Moon” in its talkie form is a story of adventure and romance, excitement and intrigue, with the haunting melodies of the stage show, augmented by several new numbers, running through the fast-moving plot as salient parts of the action. Tibbett as the fiery lieutenant gives a dashing performance in contrast to the charming poise of Miss Moore as the Russian princess, and in the vivid farewell on tho parapet during the, battle sequence they rise to dramatic heights which make this scene one of the most magnetic episodes seen in a film play in years. The story opens with the lieutenant and the princess carrying on ar affair on a steamer bound for Russia. All goes well until the ship reaches port where Adolphe Menjou, a nobleman to whom the princess is betrothed, makes his appearance. The singing of Tibbett and Miss Moore is beyond superlatives and they are equally competent in tho dramatic end of their performances. Outstanding work in supporting roles is done by Adolphe Menjou as the nobleman, Roland Young as the comic uncle, Gus Shy and Emily Fitzroy. “Inspiration” All the lure of Paris, which is 4 he locale of the story, has been skilfully worked into “Inspiration,” coming to the Majestic in the near future. Greta Garbo’s name at the head of any cast is in itself a guarantee of the quality of the film, and this is all that needs to be said upon that point, and as for the story, the plot is, as is required of (any good plot, an unusual one, with a climax which sustains the interest, while the concluding scenes unwind themselves before the eyes of the audience. There is no shortage of prominent names in tho supporting cast of Lew Ayres’ newest Universal starring picture, “Iron Man,” adapted by Frances E. Faragoh from W. R. Burnett’s best selling novel. As the production entered its last week under the direction of Tod Browning, Mary Doran, recently seen opposite William Haines in “Remote Control,” was given an important role, also Mildren Van Dorn. Rita Flynn, Tom Kennedy and among the sporting fraternity represented in the film are Leo Houck, Joe North, Bobby Gordon, Charlev Pitts, Joe Schlocker and Danny Sullivan. Robert Armstrong and John Miljan are seen as Ayres’ two manngers in the film and Ned Sparks

iis cast as his attorney. Mike Donlin ami Eddie Dillon appear as trainers, as does also Sammy Gcrmon, and Jean .liar- > low assumes the role of a wife who ignores tho boxer when he is a preliminary scrapper and hurries homo to share: ■ tho spotlight and bank roll with him when ho wins the championship. Ayres made the boxing scenes nt the Olympic, Auditorium, and accn’-ding to those whoi i have been on the inside, the young I Universal star entered into the boxing! with a real give and take spirit. j
