INVISIBLE PATCHING

If often happens that the look of an otherwise perfectly good shirt is spoilt by a little hole worn, perhaps, by a stiff collar. When this occurs there is a way of dealing with it without the necessity of showing darn or patch. Cut a strip off the bottom of the shirt at either side, about four inches wide and 12 inches long. Tack these pieces on to the fronts where the worn places are, fitting them carefully in under the shoulder seams and round the neck, and turning in the raw edges as you go. It is important to match the stripes exactly, and to fit the new fronts on top of the old without rucking. Sew all the way round with small neat stitches, and remove your tack ings. Finally, hem round the raw edges at the bottom from which the odd pieces were cut.
