BOARD IN MARLBOROUGH. INSPECTION OF ROUTE. [Per Press Association. I BLENHEIM, June 25. After a very rough trip from Wel lington, members of the Railway Board, who will inspect the route for the South Island Main Trunk railway and repori upon tho project to the Minister of Railways, reached Blenheim late lasi evening, and after a late dinner imme(lately went into private conference in reference to the railway. Tho members, who arrived are: Sir James Gunson and Messrs G. W. Reid, D. Reese, and E. Newman, accompanied by the General Manager of Railways (Nir Sterling) and the secretary (Mr J. E. Bell) and Nir D. Brodie (Railway Department). With the party is Nir F. W. Furke'rt (the Government's Engineer-in-Chief). The party left this morning on in inspection of the line. At a special meeting of tho Marlborough Progress League, the president (Nir W. T. Churchward), acting or. behalf of the Railway Committee, submitted a revised and amplified edition of the league’s case for the South Island Main Trunk. This was approved and is to be forwarded to the Railwax Board for consideration. It was reported at the meeting that the Canterbury Progress League was also submitting a separate repo’t and i hat arrangements were being made for Nir J. E. Strachan, representing the Canterbury League, and Nir Churchward, representing the Marlborough League, to give evidence before the' board in Wellington.
