FOUND UNDER BAND STAND
MISSING HOSPITAL PATIENT, GROANS ATTRACT ATTENTION. AUCKLAND, June 25. After a week’s absence from the Auckland Hospital, a patient. Air Edmund Jowitt, who was missing from the institution last Wednesday, was found under the band rotunda at the Auckland Domain yesterday. A man sitting in the rotunda yesterday morning was startled to hear groans issuing from beneath the floor. He notified the police, who released Mr Jowitt and returned him to the hos pital. The patient was in a weakened condition owing to his confinement without food, but he L now recovering rapidly. Air Jowitt stated that he lifted a trapdoor in the floor of the rotunda and fell through. Owing to the fact that he is partially paralysed he was not able to free himself. He could not attract attention, as his speech also is affected.
