DAIRYING AND WOOL

REVIEWING THE INDUSTRIES | Per P.-t< Association. I WELLINGTON, June 24. A review of the dairying industry and seaso-’ was given by Mr Perry in his presidential address at the Royal Agricultural Society’s annual conference, which opened this afternoon. There had been an increase in butter and cheese production representing in terms of butter-fat ,2',89 per cent, but owing to low values, there was x decrease of £1,907,873. But for increase in production the prices ruling would have been disastrous. In regard to the industry, he said it was probable that next season the producers would revert to full cream only. Low prices and tho consequent necessity of increasing production should give an impetus to herd testing. Speaking in regard to the depression in tho wool industry, Mr Perry said there was every ”eason to believe that tho “Buy more wool” campaign organised in New Zealand would have a very beneficial effect on tho woollen industry in New Zealand. He recalled the success of the “eat more beef r campaign. A. “use more wool” campaign in Australia last month had resulted in shopkeepers and manufacturers doing increased business.
