Mr J. B. y. Dudding has been appointed secretary of the Marton branch of the Farmers’ Union in succession to Mr K. N. Little, who has resigned. Guests registered at Foster’s Hotel last night were; Messrs D. Richards (Timaru); H. G. Braham, L. H. Lund, R. Cameron (Wellington); N. Neal (A uckland). Advice has been received by Air J. R. Corrigan, chairman of the youth Taranaki Winter Show Company, that the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, Minister of Agriculture, will perform the official opening ceremony of the Winter Show at Hawera on Tuesday afternoon of next week. The death occurred suddenly at Wellington on Saturday of Air George Howell, of the stuff of tho New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd. Air Howel), prior to the war, was in the service of the Bank of New South Wales, ano was stationed in Patea for some time, afterwards being transferred to Alanaia, and later to Wanganui, where ho was when war broke out. Air Howil) enlisted with the main body as a member of the seventh company Wellington Infantry Regiment, and saw r-°r-vicc in Egypt, Gallipoli, and France. Mr Howell leaves a widow and 'laughter.
