THE WINTER SHOW
OPENING DAY TO-MORROW. I The Wanganui Winter Show opens on the racecourse to-morrow and there is every prospect of the function proving successful, provided the weather God smiles. Special efforts have been made by the committee tv stimulate the show’s attractive qualities and with Welcome Week activities to play their part there should be a greater volume of public patronage accorded the undertaking this year than ever before. The show is to remain open each day until 10 p.m. Welcome Week activities are to centre there to finish up the period of jollity with proper spirit. Dog trials, buck-jumping, harriers, the merry go-round and chair-o’-plane—-these are some of the attractions to be staged on the three days of the show, to-day, to-morrow and on Saturday. “Miss Wanganui’s” Garden Party and presentation of civic badges of merit will be one of the outstanding events of the year. Entries are reported to be exceptionally good in all sections and keen competition seems assured.
