’PLANE HANDLED WELL
PILOT ESCAPES DISASTER. ( Per Press Association. 1 DUNEDIN, June 22. The clever handling of a Moth ’plane by Pilot F. C. Taylor averted a disaster at Taieri ’drome yesterday. At a height of 2000 feet, Mr Taylor was stunting when his engine cut. out and the big crowd of spectators were horrified to see the ’plane hurtle earthwards in a spin. Tragedy .seemed certain, but at a height estimated variously as 200 to 400 feet Mr Taylor regained control, making a perfect land ing on the dead stick. “I’m proud of Air Taylor, and told him so when he landed,” said the Otago Club pilot, Flying Officer Olsen. Air Taylor was one of the first eight A certificated pilots trained by Flying Officer Olsen.
