CARD TOURNAMENT The first of a series of card tournaments in aid of funds for the lootball club was held on Saturday evening with the usual patronage. Marlin presided over j a fair attendance al. the forinighth ■ meeting of the Loyal Rangiwahia | Lodge 1.0.0.F.M.U., held on Wedi.es- : day evening. Business was general and ballot. It was decided to hold a dance on Wednesday, June 24, the proceeds to go towards the Benevolent Funds. After the cluse of the meeting a very enjoyable dance was held, I after which a very tasty supper was HOCKEY Owing to many local people visiting the Manawatu Show on Thursday, only uno hockey team could fulfil its engagement. in Taihape. The A team, comprising Aliases P. Collie, A. Bushier, Al. Sim, A. Rose, D. Hyde. A. Harris, and C. Meads, played the Tui team in Taihape and after a very even game, which was somewhat spoilt by the muddy condition of the ground, were successful in winning by 4 goals to 2, Afiss A. Boshier scoring for tho local team.
