EXPLOSION OF GAS
RESIDENCE DAMAGED AGED HOUSEHOLDER’S ESCAPE [ Per Press Association. 1 AUCKLAND, June 21. Two rooms in a house in Newton Road were w’recked by an explosion of gas to-day when tho owner, William Probert, aged 83, went to investigate a, leakage and struck a match. A portion of a side wall of the house was blown out, a window and its frame were thrown some distance, and tho ceiing in one room was brought down. Probert was not injured, although ho suffered from shock, and his face was singed. His wife, who was only other occupant of the house escaped injury.
