LAND AND IRRIGATION
IMPORTANT EXPERIMENTS. DOES WATER SI OIL THE SOIL! LONDON, Juno 19. An experiment of interest to the Dominions’ orchardists and agriculturists was -witnessed by a party of experts visiting Rothamsted experimental station. The experiments, which -were witnessed by the New Zealander, Air H. M. Richardson, arose out of a belief that irrigated land sometimes lost its value after irrigation, due the effect of constant water on the soil which was accustomed to only a small amount of rain. It is hoped that the investigator will he able to inform the prospective irrigators whether land is likely to respond to irrigation, saving much needless expense.
