OBITUARY MR GEORGE HOWELL The death occurred at Wellington on Saturday of Air George Horatio Howell, who was formerly attached to the Marton branch of the Bank of New Zealand. The late Air Howell, who was an exceedingly popular and zealous officer, well esteemed by the bank’s clients and staff, joined the Alain Body from Marton shortly after the outbreak of the war and, during his four years’ service, served in the Gallipoli. French and Egyptian campaigns. For sonic years after his return from the war he was in the head office of the Bank ai Wellington where he was in charge of one of the departments. Ho subsequently resigned from this position, and entered the employ of the New Zealand Shipping Company. He had not enjoyed the best of health of latter years, and was walking on to the deck of the liner Westmoreland on Saturday morning when he had a seizure and did not regain consciousness. Air Howell was well known in Taranaki and Auckland where he had been stationed at different times, and his untimely death at the age of 54 came as a groat, shock to his many friends He is survived by his widow (who is a daughter of Airs C.
