Mr Allwood was thrown right over the bonnet of the car by the force of the im- : pact, and in falling struck his hcad-T heavily on the roadway. He was taken ' to the Auckland Hospital bv the St. John AmbiUtmee, but his case was hopeless from tho outset. Deceased was a brother of Mr Harry Allwood, of Bignell Street. Gonville and of Mr Cyril Allwood, also wclb known in Wanganui.
