NEW ZEALAND BOWLING MINOR COUNTIES MATCH MERRITT’S FOUR WICKETS [Ej Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright] GAINSBOROUGH, June 17. Heavy rain, prevented the start before lunch of the cricket match at Gainsborough between New Zealand and Minor Counties, the ground being sodden. After some further delay a start was made, the home side batting first. It the team adjournment the score stood at 70 for no wickets, Cook having made 27 (not out) and Homer 39 (not out). The teams were as follows:

New Zealand.—Lowry, Blunt, Page, Dempster, Mills, Kerr, Allcott, Merrirt, Weir, James, Talbot. Minor Counties.—Elderton, Cook, Remnant, Kingsley, Fordham, Homer, Rafferty, Frearson, Ward, Walters, Lock. Lowry lost the toss. Hemer and Cook started well, adding 85 for the first wicket. They were separated after tea when Cook was smartly stumped. Merritt then took three wickets fairly rapidly, bowling Kingsley, last year’s Oxford captain, with a well-pitched googley.
