CALL TO REPENTANCE PKOrOSAI, BY I’KESBYTEKY AUCKLAND, June 17. “Our chief business in tho community is to fortify ho soul of the nation,” said tho Rev. F. R. Harries, quoting at the Auckland Presbytery last evening a wartime utterance of tho late President of tho United States, Air Woodrow Wilson. Mr Harries proposed that in view of tho present deperssion and distress some special united action should bo taken by the Churches. He thought it might, be possible for the moderator of their Church to approach the heads of the other churches and suggest the calling of the nation to repentance and prayer. Air Harries moved, “that, whereas the economic position of this Dominion is one of great and growing gravity, ami the duty of the Churches i not only to alleviate a deeper insight, into tho spiritual causes of tho present situation and to lead tho nation to God, the presbytery therefore pray the Right Rev. the Aloderator, Proft'ssor John Collie, to give this matter earnest consideration and suggests that, he consult the heads of other Churches with a. view to such concerted action as might, achieve this end.” The Rev.
