EARNED £3OO A WEEK Stated to have once been a popular and well-known West End actor, Sidney Bowkett, aged 65, who was shabbily dressed, was charged at a London Court a few weeks ago with begging on Blackfriars Bridge. He had 8d in his pockets. Bowkett explained that he had been in hospital for 18 months, and had four operations. He asked a policeman if he could spare a copper, but war arrested. On a previous occasion, Bowkett stated that he a# one time earned £3OO a week. Among his successful plays were “Lucky Miss Dean” and “Superior Miss Bellender. ” He was bound over.
