WORSE THAN LAST YEAR'S EASTERN STATES NORM/’, WASHINGTON, Juno 15. The Weather Bureau to-day said that the drought was worse than the blistering dryness of last year. It has gripped the north-west Wisconsin to tho Pacific Coast. Much of the wheat and other crops are said to bo beyond recovery. Prospects for relief are slight. The condtiun of spring wheat is described as the poorest on record. In the remainder of the country, however, there is sufficient moisture for present needs. “IT’S AN ILL WIND” OTHER FARMERS WILL BENEFIT Received June 16, 10.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, June 15. Following reports of the wheatcrop disaster threatening in the north-wes tern area, agitation led by Senator Walsh of Montana has opened for a special session of Congress to give relief to the farmers of that district. Air Stone, of the Farm Board, has admitted that the losses to whyat-men ! in Montana, North Dakota, will be heavy, but says that such losses will benefit the farmers in other areas. He also states that reports of the poor Canadian wheat crops and tho decreased acreage planted in Australia and the Argentine, will result in “prices for the 1931 wheat crops being much better.”
