NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL F.A. TROPHY CHALLENGES [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, June 16. Following the success of the Wellington Football Association team in winning the F.A. Trophy, it was reported to the council of the New Zealand Football Association to-night that a challenge was received from the Canterbury Association last week in the event of Wellington winning. The secretary reported that he had written the Canterbury Association since the match was played asking that body to re-chal-lenge and forward the challenge fee. It was agreed to accept the challenge subject to the fee being received. The chairman, Air F. Campbell, expressed the view that the Canterbury team should arrive on Friday morning if possible in order that it may be fit for play the next day. The secretary is to write accordingly. The Otago Association wrote challenging Westland for the Peter Dawson Cup, enclosing the fee and suggesting that the match should he played m July. A challenge for the same trophy was received from Canterbury. It was decided to make no decision until the Buller challenge to West la nd, to be played next Saturday, had been disposed of. The Otago challenge is next m order. It was reported that the Chatham Cup fixture between St. Andrew's (Palmerston North) and Athletic (Wanganui) was to be played al Palmerston North next Saturday. Mi A. E, Carsley (Wellington) has been appointed referee. Otago and Canterbury are to plav at Christchurch on a date to he fixed. Air R. AL Bcswick (Auckland) wrote that he had been appointed secretary and treasurer of the North Island Primary Schools’ Assoication. The members were members of the minor divisions committee of the Auckland Football Association, which specialised in junior football administration. Nei thcr the Primary nor the Secondary Schools’ Association could afliliate with provincial associations. The conipcti tions were not definitely domiciled under any one association. It was suggested that these bodies might affiliate direct with the N.Z.F.A. The chairman suggested that the Primary Schools’ Association and the Secondary Schools’ Association in the North Island and the South Island should be invited to affiliate direct with the N.Z.F.A. and that the (•ombined bodies should have one delegate to represent them on the New Zealand Council. The matter could be considered by the primary as sociations when the tournament was held. The secretary was instructed to write the four organisations accord ingly.
