WANGANUI AFFAIRS METROPOLITAN UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui | Metropolitan Rugby Union was held last night, there being present Messrs | C. H. Warden (chairman), C. S. Swan, • L. Southcoinbe, A. Takarangi, A. C. Mills, H. Dyke. A. Danielson, W. H. Gill. J. Moye, R. C. Hamilton and A. Lockett. Two players who were ordered off in the Wangaehu-Marist match last Saturday attended to be dealt with. After hearing the referee’s version of the incident and the players’ explanations it was decided that they be let off with a caution. It was stated that they had not descended to fisticuffs and both expressed regret for the incident. It was decided to write to the various clubs instructing them to open sub scription lists for a testimonial for Air E. A. Beiliss, the lists to be closed before the end of July. The Wanganui Rugby Union reported that the sum of £5 had been donated on behalf of both Unions for the St. John Ambulance Brigade. TllO action of thn .Timinr Advicnrv
Board in recommending that the fourtl grade game between Technical College and Pirates be replayed was endorsed. The application for the regrading oi three Technical College players to the fourth grade was not acceded to. The Wanganui Sunshine Club wa: granted permission to collect votes al a penny each on Spriggens Park foi their “Popular Lady” Competition. On it being pointed out by the fix turcs committee that the Technical Ol< Boys match against Ratana next Sat urday had, through an oversight, beer set down for the Racecourse ground :n ! stead of at Ratana. it was decided that the fixtures affected be recast as fol lows: | Senior.—Technical Old Boys v. Ra 1 tana at Ratana at 3 p.m. Junior. —County v. Ratana at Ratana at 1.30 p.m. Thirds.—Technical Old Boys B a Ratana on Racecourse No. 4 at 3 p.m It was decided that most of tin games not played on the Collegiar. grounds last Saturday owing to the conditions be played on the same grounds on Show Day (Saturday week). The Wanganui Harrier Club were granteel the use of the Spriggens Park (Iressing shed on June 27. It was decided to recommend that the second senior match be scheduled to start at 2.50 p.m. to enable it to be finished in a reasonable light. The midget games, it was decided, will not be played for the next three or four Saturdays owing to fhere being little time available at the interval between the two senior games.
