BROOME DISTRICT SUFFERS WHOLE FAMILIES DOWN PERTH, June 15. Twenty per cent, of the white population, including the district medical officer, at Broome and surrounding districts, is laid up with a severe illness, believed to be pneumonic influenza. In some cases whole families are in bed. Five deaths have occurred. Forty per cent, of the blacks are suffering. Two hundred and thirty inhabitants of Beagle Bay mission station are ill, including the Fathers, and also the Sisters of the Convent.
