He suggested thirteen districts for the city, each district to be under the control of a local committee which would work in the raising of food or materials. There were 600 families to provide for in the city, and of those 150 with three of more children, and i‘Bs families with a wife and two children dependant on the man. The Labour Department had offered to assist, so that a check could be kept on the actual family of the applicant, and then the organisa tion could arrange its own record of the amount of relief to be received by any family. There w s a great need for children’s clothing and for boots and trousers, particularly for the single unemployed men. They had been living on 18s weekly for three weeks in four, and their wardrobe had been necessairly depleted.
