RELIEF ORGANISATION
Y doubt that Wanganui intends to remain indifferent to the
sufferings and hardships of the unemployed during the next Jew months has been dispelled by the energetic action of the people. When the Mayor of Wanganui meets his committee to-day he will have presented a detailed scheme worked out with reasonable fulness for dealing with the situation. This scheme which the ladies’ organisations have fashioned can be included into a larger scheme, and altered or modified according to requirements.
The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union is also organising the assistance of the. country population, while the newlyformed branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society is making its debut in public effort in Wanganui. With the enthusiastic support of the general public there can be no doubt, although hardship may not be banished, the wolf of want will be kepi from the doors of the unemployed.
