LAWN TENNIS

TOUR OF CHAMPIONS PROMINENT PERFORMERS CRAWFORD MAY TAKE PART An effort is being made to arrange a tour of tho country districts of New South Wales by a strong tennis team which will include the Australian champion, J. Crawford, and if successful, all tho thief towns of the State will bo visited. Letters have been sent out tOi the big clubs and associations of the North. Coast, north and north-west, seeking information, so that the tour may bw mapped out. As it is very seldom that tours on the North Coast, northern tableland, and north-west have had city players, it is certain such a visit will be welcomed. The intention is to start probably with Tarec, as Newcastle, Maitland and Cessnock can be visited at any time. Kempsey, Grafton, Lismore, Kyogle, Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Inverell, Aloree, Barren Junction, Narrabi, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale, Mas wellbrook, Singleton and perhaps Bellinger River and Nambucca centres will get matches, subject in every case to satisfactory arrangements. A similar tour of tho west, and also of the south and south-west will probably follow. The effect of tours should be a consolidation of tho New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association in the country, and benefit to tennis generally. There are so many boys and girls of real promise. V. AfcGrath. Los Poidevin and R. B. Thompson, fine players though they undoubtedly are, have to keep going to win against quite a number of others. Amongst the girls tho pick are probably Nina Vicery, Dot Greenwood, Eria Corrigan ano June Bubb, but at least a dozen other girls are quite close up.
