REFEREE CRITICISED COMMENT AT OPUNAKE. SPECTATOR ADVISED TO LEAVE Players, spectators and especially officials of tho Opunake Club became increasingly annoyed during the OpunakeAthletic match at Opunake on Saturday at the continued run of comment levelled at the referee’s rulings by one of the Opunake supporters, says tho Hawera Star. Tho comment was uncalled for, as the referee, Mr A. E. Spratt, had the game well in hand. By half-time every judgment, was being loudly criticised and at this stage Mr Spratt informed the man that his comment would have to cease or he would have to leave tho ground. Such comment said Air Spratt, would only increase the excitement of the players and tend to rough play. Spectators in the vicinity were also of this opinion, and eventually the man said he would leave the ground if he was ordered. Mr Spratt advised him to do so and, together with another bar racker who had also been talking and criticising, the spectator left the ground. The game was hard and fast, but there was no suggestion of rough play or of partial decisions by the referee. TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S VISIT INTERESTING RUGBY FIXTURES In view of the tour of New Zealand by tho Australian team this Season, commencing with the match against Otago on August 22, a glance at the results of the 1929 All Blacks’ tour of Australia will prove interesting. The New Zealand team was as fol lows:—C. G. Porter (captain), E. R. G. Steere, K. Reid, W. Reside, R. G. AlcWilliams, B. Palmer, A. Alahoney, A. I. Cottrell, C. Sonntag, R. Souter, J Tuck, E. T. C. Leys, B. A. Grenside, R!. Cundy, C. Stringfellow, L. R. Hook, G. Nepia, H. Waterman, W. C. Dailey, 11. Lilburno, C. Oliver, S. R. Carleton W. Rika, E. Snow, A. L. Kivell and J. Geddes. It will be seen from the list given that the Australians have not. a very hard proposition ahead of them to bet ter the 1929 New Zealanders’ record. It, is probable that their most formidable problems will bo Canterbury, on August 29; Wellington, on September 5; Maoris, on September 9; and New Zealand, at Auckland, on September 12. Everyone in New Zealand hopes that among those in tho Aussie side will be Towers, the Queensland centre threequarter: Dr A. Ross, New South Wale . full-back; Ford and Cerutti, the giant forwards who played such magnificent games against New Zealand in 1929. The results in the tour of that year are:— v. New South Wales, at Sydney, drawn. o—o. v. Newcastle, at Newcastle, won, 35—8. v. Australia, at Sydney, lost, B—9. v. New South Wales, at Sydney, won v. Victoria, at Melbourne, won, 25—4. v. Country team, at Armidale, won v. Australia, at Brisbane, lost. 9—17. v. Queensland, at, Brisbane, won. 27 —O. v. Australia, at Sydney, lost, 13—15. v. New South Wales, at Sydnev. won.
