N.Z. MUTTON AND LAMB. SMITHFIELD PRICES. I , Lamb market: First quality remains firm, with quiet demand. Second quality firmer at better prices. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, market quiet, but steady. There is a good demand foi lightweight wethers. Beef market: Practically no demand for frozen beef. New Zealand porker pigs: Market is dull with little demand. New Zealand pigs: Nominal prices. The above report was received on Saturday by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board from its London office which advises that the following ar the approximate average prices realised for the week ended June 12, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. Prices for the two previous weeks are also shown:—

The Bank of New Zealand produce department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week:—Frozen meat: There is a good demand for light-weight wethers. The market is short of ewe mutton until the next arrivals. The market is firmer for sec ond quality lambs; first grades remain steady. There is no demand for beef. Wethers, light, 43d to 53d per lb.; heavy, 4 l-8d to 4 5-8 d; ewes, 333 to 43d; lambs, 2’s 73d to Bd, B’s 7d to 7Jd: 4’s 7d to 7Jd, seconds 63d to 73d.
