LOST MOTHER-IN-LAW
SON IN-LAW AWARDED £25. A young Frenchman who lost the body of his mother-in-law owing to a railway company’s negligence was awarded £25 damages by a Paris tribunal a few weeks ago. The misadventure occurred two years ago, when the young man’s mother-in-law died while they were on holiday together. He sent her body to Paris by rail, and arranged for the mourners to assemble at the terminus. They did so, but the waggon in which the body had been sent could not be found. The waggon had been sent to Lo Havre by mistake, marked “Empty — to be disinfected.” The error was eventually rectified, and tho funeral proceeded. Tho son-in-law afterward complained that he had been compelled to buy lunch for the mourners*
