“THE BORDER LEGION”
DUCHESS THEATRE PROGRAMMES. ROMANCE AND OUTLAWRY. “The Border Legion,” Zane Grey’s thrilling story of romance and outlawry in the early days of the West, has been brought to the talking screen as one of the most outstanding spectacular action dramas, so far filmed with dialogue. In addition to Richard Arlen ami Fay Wray, in the leading romantic roles, Paramount’s “The Border Legion,” which is now at the Duchess Theatre, has the familiar and popular figure of Jack Holt playing his first talking Zane Grey role, in the cast. Fay Wray has the only woman role of importance in the picture. Eugene Pallette, has a role similar to the one he portrayed in “The Virginian.” “Sarah and Son.” “Sarah and Son,” Timothy Shea’s great best-selling novel of mother-lox v, will be seen m its talking filmised ver sion next Wednesday at tho Duchess Theatre. Ruth Chatterton, of “Madame X” and “The Laughing Lady” fame, is starred in the central role of Sarah Storm, the impoverished young wifemother xvlio, stimulated by a burning ambition to raise herself from obscurity and to regain the baby boy who had been spirited away from her by her worthless husband, finally achieves fame and glory as an operatic star and eventually is re-united with her son. “Canaries Sometimes Sing.” Uproariously funny is the only way to describe “Canaries Sometimes
Sing,” the latest comedy morsel from the acidulous pen of Mr Frederick Lonsdale. Much, of course, considering its sophisticated nature, depends on the direction, and it can be said immediately that Tom Walls’ work in this line polishes up this comedy gem till it shines in every foot. “Canaries Sometimes Sing” xvill commence a season at the Duchess Theatre on Friday next.
