COW AS “HEROINE”

RUSSIAN AGRARIAN FILMS, Eisenstein, the Russian film producer, created a deal of interest by choosing a cow as “heroine” of one of his agrarian propaganda films. But America has allocated leading roles in a two-reel dialogue comedy to a White Leghorn hen and a Plymouth Rock rooster! In this novelty comedy, which is two reels in length, these “stars” of the farmyard are made to depict love, villainy, drama, and comedy in a burlesque of transpontine melodrama. This, of course, is the first time that fowls have figured in a dialogue comedy, and the producers admit that the production of “A Fowl Affair” proved to be one of the toughest propositions they have ever tackled. There will be a strong “supporting cast” of 150, consisting of chickens, ducks, roosters, and turkeys, whilst the costuming of the actors is said to provide some sartorial surprises. Lovers of the Ideal “ Talkomodies” will await with keen anticipation this unusual addition to its schedule or two-reel fun.

Radio Pictures received the magnificent response of nearly 1,000 votes from exhibitors on the suggested title of “The Devil’s Battalion,” instead of “Beau Ideal.” for P. C. Wren’s sequel to “Beau Geste.”
