"DANCING JOAN" GOES A-CYCLING

Dear Wendy. Here 1 am again. Wendy dear, back once more in Letterland. I du not seem to be absent for long. Like all oldfashioned letter-writers I will stall with the weather. The weather we have been having these last few weeks is very changeable. There has been some beauty frosts these last two mornings. Last Friday it was everything but sunny. It blew, rained, hailed ami snowed. The snow never lasted long. T wish it had, though, l>ecause it would have been fun to have a snowball fight. On June 3 "Bab’s Chum,” a girl friend and myself decided on a cycling toor around the Water- j shed Road. We stalled off in great spirit ; we didn’t have to go far before we camo i to a small track ; it is called the Waterfall Road, and mind you, Wendy, it. is wellnamed. The rain certainly falls on it and lies there. However, we plunged on through mud, water and long grass. We had not gone far before we were tired, as it was all up hill and two long weary miles of it at that. After taking a good rest we struggled along. Each corner we came to we would say. "Ah! I’ll bot, this is the last." but. no! we could see nothing but corner after corner. ; At last we turned one big corner and there I was the gate leading on to the Watershed j road! We felt as though we were passing through the Gates of Paradise when we slipped through that gale. But oh! horrors - the mess we were in and our cycles. We were just smothered in mud, but we received our reward after that struggle, because the rest, of the way was down hill and. Wendy, didn’t we just sail down. We enjoyed that I trip so much, even though we were almost J dead when we arrived home, that, we decided . to go a different way next Sunday, so as yesterday turned out a beautiful day we went further this time, and had quite a tew little adventures. I had a letter from "Stag Hunter” the other day, and she said she would be writing again soon. Oh. Wendy, isn't “Madcap" just wonderful? I always watch for her letters. I wonder if any of the Ites are reading the «tory in the “Chronicle.” “Judy Say No” ? It is great, and we always look for the paper every morning to see what has happened to our Judy. Well. Wendy. I must ring-off, so please excuse this awful scribble and the mistakes as I am ' near frozen. Cheerio. Love to all the Ite-. I From "DANCING JOAN." Matigaonoho. Deai 1 me, but what dreadful weather you have had. We had a little hail here also, j It. soon melted, however. What a dreadful struggle you must have had through all that mud and water. Still, cycling is splendid, isn’t it? 1 would be so happy to have a letter from our “Stag Hunter." I thought she was forgetting i-. Yes. "Madcap” is a genius with her pen, isn't she? Such jollytales she tells. I arn glad you like the serial sory in the daily. I must tell the Editor. Wendy I
