Symes), the time had come for a better measure of optimism from everybody, lie was certain that Wanganui had been unjustly hurt in the past by pessimists who -could see no good in their own city. ” I ain satisfied Wanganui is a sound town.” he said. “We are round the corner and there is no room for all that pessimism.” lie appealed for self-reliance on the part of each cHzen, deprecating the very common practice of the day of running to ihc Government for everything.
