BURMESE REBELS
A SEVERE ENCOUNTER HEAVY LOSSES INFLICTED. DELHI, June 5. One hundred rebels were killed and wounded in a fierce encounter with ; detachment of Punjab troops at Bankla u ng, near Promo, Burma. The Punjabis surprised the rebels, who were estimated to number 300, in a jungle fortress, and after a burst o! rapid lire rushed the stockade. A grim hand-to-hand fight ensued, sifter which the insurgents fled in confusion. Many were captured and included the woundi i leader. The Crown forces suf[fcred no casualties.
