DOMINION UNION CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON DISCUSSIONS AND DECISIONS [ Per Preia Association. 1 WELLINGTON, June A conference of tho Dominion Wrestling Union of New Zealand was held yesterday. Mr H. D. Bennett, presiding, said the most important event of tho year was the agreement arrived at by the two bodies promoting wrestling in tho Dominion. A complete merger was effected, both at Auckland and Wellington. This cleared the way for better control of the game in this country. In keeping with tho original intentions the union will insist upon the sport being conducted in a manner free of any objectionable features associated with tho sport in certain States. Regarding representation on the council, it was decided that for the present Auckland. Wellington and Otago should have two delegates each and the re niaining centres one each. After discussion concerning tho appointment of a match committee to arrange bouts, it was decided to carry on in the usual manner, allowing each association to make its own matches, subject to the approval of the union. It was resolved that no active professional wrestler be allowed to referee a professional contest in future. It was agreed to hold amateur wrestling championships at Wellington towards tho end of the season. In al 1 amateur competitions the value of the trophy for the winner is to be £1 Is.
