MASTER LE S STEEPLES GREAT NORTHERN WINNER SUCCESS OF TANERIRI RACING AT ELLERSLIE SECOND DAY’S RESULTS. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 6. The Auckland Pacing Club’s Great Northern Steeplechase meeting was continued to-day in fine weather. The attendance was good. The track, although holding, had greatly improved compared with the first day. The totalisator handled £48,092 10s, compared with £52,088 10s on the second day last year. Results were as follows: HUNT CLUB CUP (Of £300; about 2% miles.) 1— Billy Boy, 9.10, Foster 1 4 Town Beauty, 9.5, H. Dulieu .. 2 2 Sonora, 9.8, Rennie 3 Also: 3 Mashoor, 7 Jiu Jazz, 10 Fair Abbey, 5 Nukutere, 9 St. Lucas, 8 Glen Maree. 6 Nassone. One and a-half lengths; two and a half lengths. Time 5.22. Nassone fell at the first fence and Mashoor at the first on the hill. Billy Boy had charge at rhe double and, with Sonora, was still in the lead the second time up the hill. Billy Boy drew away it the last fence to win well. RANFURLY HANDICAP (Of £300; seven furlongs.) Prince Lu led early from High Pitch, Nucleus and Make Up, and held the ! lead into the straight, with High Pitch, Make Up and Singleton handy. High Pitch then asserted himself and put the issue beyond doubt. GREAT NORTHERN SAEEPLES (Of £1500; about 3% miles.) 4 MASTER LU, 9.0, Mcßae .. .. *1 12— WAKO KING, 9.5, Dulieu .... 2 1— LUCESS, 9.12, Foster ...... 3 Also: 10 Wiltshire, 6 Nukumai, 2 Star Comet, 8 Copey. 3 Dark Prince, 5 Foxhound, 14 Lupin Abbey, 7 Matu, 13 Paris, 11 Perle de Leon. 9 Spalpiko. Eight lengths; three lengths. Time 8.12. Spalpiko established a good lead over the first round. Perle de Leon and Star Comet fell, the former having to be destroyed. Spalpiko was still the leader at the commencement of the last round, with Master Lu, Luces? and Copey handy. Master Lu was in front on the hill from Lucess, Spalpiko and Copey, and stayed on to win fairly comfortably. Nukumai and Dark Prince fell and Foxhound was pulled up, having broken down. KING GEORGE HANDICAP (Of £600; seven furlongs.) 2 TANERIRI. 8.0. Neck; neck. Time 1.30. Manawhenua led across the top from Puriri Park, Refresher and Inevitable. The positions of the leaders were unchanged entering the straight, except that Lady’s Boy had moved up to third. The field then bunched and in an exciting finish Taneriri came up fast on the outside to score a narrow win. iValroe fell soon after the start. PANMURE HURDLES (Of £3OO ; 1% miles.) I—Cristobel,1 —Cristobel, 10.3, Smith 1 B—Landmark, 9.3, Foster 2 6 Nassock, 9.0, Thomson 3 Also: 5 Patutahi, 3 Sir Russell. 7 Marble King, 8 Desert Glow, 4 Loving Cup, 10 Justify. 9 Kairuru. Two lengths; ten lengths. Time 3.21 3-5. Cristobel led all the way and passing the stand was followed by Marble King, well clear of Landmark. Across the top Landmark came up to second place but Cristobel retained the lead to win comfortably. Sir Russell fell at the trst fence and Desert Glow at the third.

Time 1.43 4-5. Lord Vai was in front when the field settled down and led into the straight, followed by Good Idea, Pcwa, Little •‘Doubt and Catoma.
