WOOL MARKETS

LITTLE CHANGE REPORTED EFFECT OF FRENCH STRIKE I By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) Received May 24, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 23. The wool situation is little changed. The firmness displayed at the close of the London sales induced Yorkshire topmakers to adopt a firm attitude, but the market for tops is inactive ana prices are unchanged. The strike of textile workers has brought nearly all the mills in the north of France to a standstill, ana consequently there is an absence of transactions from that quarter, and there is not much demand from Germany at present. The sales of tops last week were below normal, and prices of yarns have fallen a half-penny to a penny per pound. Particulars regarding old contracts are coming in very slowly. Tho futures markets is unchanged.
