MARTON JOCKEY CLUB The annual meeting of the Marton Jockey Club will bo held in the Coronation Hall to-morrow evening at 8 o’cluck. The report and balance-sheet will be presented and other important business discussed. The final screening will be shown to-night. LOYAL MARTON LODGE The quarterly summoned meeting of the above lodge tok place on Friday evening, there being a good attendance. One new member was admitted. A meeting is to be held to arrange a programme of entertainment for the social after the lodge function. Lodge closed at a late hour, and memoers dispersed after partaking of supper. MARTON GOLF CLUB FOUR-BALL BOGEY COMPETITION A four-ball bogey competition attracted a large number of players on Saturday afternoon and several exceptionally good cards were handed in. Tho following being the best: F. J. Christensen and S. Go ver 6 up, A. H. Marshall and J. R. L. Stanford ,3 up, and C. M. Holdaway and G. M. Moffitt 3 up. RESIDENCE GUTTED BY FIRE About 7.30 on Saturday evening, the fire brigade was called to a lire on Wellington Road, where a six-roomed dwelling house was discovered to be on fire. The hro had a good hold when the brigade arrived, but with an excellent force of water they soon subdued the flames. The whole of the inside of the building was practically gutted, and the contents were also destroyed. The building was owned b> Mr W. J. Aynsley, of Gisborne, and was insured in the North British Insurance Company for £B5O. Mr E. Waters, who was the occupier, lost ah his furniture. From the appearance of the building it appears that the fire started in the kitchen. RANGITIKEI RUGBY REPS.
