A BREAKDOWN LIKELY. NO ACCEPTABLE SCHEME. LONDON, May 22. The Press Association understands that there is a grave danger of a breakdown of the Wheat Conference owing to the inability of tho Plans Committee to discover an acceptable scheme. To-day’s plenary session has been cancelled. It may bo held to-morrow. SECRETARIAT ESTABLISHED. Received May 2, 7.45 p.m. LONDON, May 23. The result of the wheat conference will be the establishment of a secretariat representing all the wheat exporting countries, to continue the exploration of the problems. The conference found that the existing conditions were duo to a general world trade slump. Some countries were producing more than could be ab sorbed. REDUCTION IN ACREAGE. AMERICAN ANNOUNCEMENT. Received May 24, 8.15 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 23. A reduction in the world wheat acreage, outside Russia and China, for the 1931-32 season, is stated by the Department of Agriculture to-day to be definitely in prospect, the decrease being approximately two per cent, of the total producing area, which aggregates 18,186,500 acres.
